The Optimist is a Spanish restaurant in Wan Chai that specialises in Northern Spanish cuisine, grills, and seafood. It holds a Google rating of 4.6, reflecting generally positive diner feedback. The restaurant presents a Spanish style setting, with lighting and seating that create a warm and mildly lively mood, suitable for gatherings with friends or a relaxed date without feeling overly noisy. Its signature lobster rice pairs lobster with rice and appeals to seafood lovers. Grilled items also form part of the menu and add variety beyond rice dishes. Diners can share several plates across the table, often starting with small plates and grilled items before finishing with the lobster rice, which gives the meal a natural and unhurried flow. Service follows the sharing format, letting guests at the table take dishes at their own pace. Compared with Spanish restaurants that focus mainly on small plates, this one gives grills and seafood a more prominent place, with a style of cooking that leans toward letting ingredients speak for themselves. The atmosphere is casual enough for a weekday dinner yet suitable for special occasions. The Wan Chai location makes it accessible for both lunch and dinner. The Optimist is a dependable option for Spanish flavours and seafood in the district. Overall, The Optimist offers a solid setting for Northern Spanish food in Wan Chai.
